The sliding glass doors open to a large deck where you can take in the awesome Olympic Mountains and the acres of natural, unspoiled meadows. Have a barbecue, watch the Bald Eagles as they dive for trout in the pond. Gaze at the stars at night, roast marshmallows around the fire pit, roam the meadows or take an adventure into Olympic National Park.

THE COMPASS ROSE HOUSE can also be rented for groups along with our other two cabins.

Ten minutes away are Sequim and Port Angeles, the world’s longest sand spit, the ferry to Victoria, B.C., Canada and the entrance to Olympic National Park, where the road to Hurricane Ridge takes you to a stunning view of active glaciers in the Olympic Mountains.

Within minutes you can venture into the moss-covered rain forest, enjoy a pristine glacier-carved lake, hike hundreds of miles of wilderness trails with crystal clear rivers and majestic waterfalls, be awed by the sandy rugged beaches, and soak in natural hot springs.

Enjoyed our stay

Stayed for two nights after Xmas. Very nice and clean and quite. Sits on a semi private acre or two with trees and field around and no direct view of the other cabins. Having owned a cabin or two ourselves in the NW this is close to what I would build. Now we just rent when we want one. Note that the upstairs loft bedroom has nearly straight up stairs. My wife looked up there but I did not as I had a sore shoulder so keep that in mind. Fully equipped great room kitchen and a great wood stove and plenty of firewood. Never had to call the owner for any help with things. Didn't use the internet connection. We got good directions for getting there and it was easy to find in the daytime and at night once you've been there (i.e. its about 3 miles off the highway on a nice country road. The nearby town has everything you might want for shopping and eating out. If you live in the city or crowded burbs this is a nice example of country living. They didn't allow pets but if I was a Lab with my own boy to play with I wouldn't want to leave :) Had no problem working with owner via email and paying on line with a charge card. Just noting as this is our first time with a private owner for a place we had never seen like this and that is not a hotel chain.

Beautiful, spacious cabin for family at OVC wedding

We recently rented the Olympic View Cabins grounds and all three cabins for our wedding. OVC was the perfect place to spend quality time with our guests and enjoy the beautiful scenery of the Olympic Peninsula. We had stayed at the Compass Rose house when we got engaged and quickly realized that this luxurious cabin, the mountain views, and wildflower meadows would serve as a wonderful location to say our vows. Suzann was an absolute joy to work with throughout the whole process. We comfortably housed the groom's family in the Compass Rose, serving as a slightly removed location for guests to retreat to after the festivities and enjoy a campfire and hot tub. The steps upstairs were a bit tricky for the older family members so the younger couples stayed up top. Everyone appreciated the large kitchen to prepare family lunch, and enjoyed the quiet porch for some early morning reading. The area around the cabin also served as an ideal location for guests to set up tents and an RV. We really hit the jackpot with OVC and recommend it for anyone who wants a relaxing wedding weekend focused on community and nature.

Charming cabin with a stellar view and all the finer details covered

I rented the cabin for out of town guests, but found it so charming I decided to stay there as well during their stay! The cabin is so well appointed, and very welcoming. We especially enjoyed sitting by the warm wood fire stove and looking out at the deer playing in the yard. The hot tub was heaven after a long day of hiking the near by trails in the Olympics. Every detail of this little treasure was well thought out, and the location was perfect. I look forward to staying again as new guests come to explore the beauty of the Olympic peninsula.

Compass rose house

My wife and I have been renting cabins for over 20 years through out Washington on both sides of the Cascades and the Compass house has got to be one of , if not our favorite. The owners Suzann an Martin are close enough to serve you if you need anything and far enough away to never see them if you don"t , and they are a pleasure to work with and take pride in their cabins. The beauty here is a piece of heaven on earth from the majestic mountain views from the living room ,deck, as well as the hot tub. The wood burning fireplace with wood provided was a extra bonus. Beautiful meadows, ponds to fish if your feeling lucky , and deer that like to check you out that stroll through. You will not regret staying here we are already planning our next trip back

Majestic views right from the living room, front porch and hottub. Secluded, quiet and peaceful.

Stayed here January 2018 for a week of peace and quiet. Got everything we needed and more. From the breathtaking views to the herd of deer that traveled through. We have been renting cabins throughout Washington on both sides of the cascades for over 20 years. The compass rose house has got to be one of our, if not favorites. From the breathtaking views, to the beautiful well equipped cabin stocked with everything you need. The wood stove with wood provided, the hottub, ponds to fish if your lucky (we weren't) and owners who are near to serve you if you need them or not to be seen if you don't. Suzann and martin are the best of people to work with. When exploring the Olympic peninsula and all it has to offer I couldn't imagine wanting to stay anywhere else while doing so. We can't wait to come back Lord willing. You won't be sorry staying at this little peace of heaven on earth, we didn't want to leave!

Reconnect, Rebalance and Replenish

Escape the fray and mundane – find nature’s beauty and perhaps yourself in this breathtaking cabin. Enjoy the beautiful forests, bountiful gardens and beckoning mountains practically at your doorstep. We spotted a wild deer and enjoy the sounds of nature. If you are seeking some peace and quiet and quality time – then look no further. Connect with nature and feel at home. Here you can nurture your body and give your busy mind a rest. Take a deep breathe of fresh air to reground and replenish your spirit with the natural beauty that abounds here. Reconnect, Rebalance and Replenish your Heart here. The cab itself is beautifully made and kept. It literally has everything you need to feel right at home. Everything from the dish soap to the laundry detergent! The owner Suzann was so nice and professional. She has obviously taken her time reading through previous renters request. She had a list of how to do or find anything in the house. Being from the big city of Houston, TX we didn't even know how to use the chimney. We were so thankful to find instructions. lol I loved this place and I can't wait to visit again one day. We will defiantly stay longer next time. This was an awesome getaway before heading to Seattle for the big Texans - Seahawks game. Thank you Suzann for an amazing experience!

Wonderful, gem of a property!!

Me, my wife and our 3 children had the pleasure of staying in the Compass Rose House for 4 nights in August 2017. The little house is a beautiful gem and perfect for a family with kids - there is only one bedroom on the first floor and then a sleeping loft accessed by a ladder (which the kids thought was cool). The house was very clean and well maintained and had all the comforts of home. My wife and I both like to cook and the kitchen had everything we needed, including a nice gas range and all the basic sundries we needed (oil, vinegar, basic spices, ketchup, mustard, etc.) The area is convenient enough to town but far enough away so one could enjoy the 'country', including the peace and solitude we were seeking. Absolutely Perfect. The surrounding property and deck were perfect for us and we enjoyed the hot tub after long days of hiking in Olympic National Park. We also enjoyed eating dinner on the deck while overlooking the Olympic Range. We've rented many houses over the years and this was one of the best. Would recommend this place to anyone without any reservations. The owners are also very nice and responsive. A few notes: 1. While this house says it could sleep 8, I'm not sure this house would be comfortable for sleeping more than 2 adults and kids, unless two adults like climbing the ladder to the loft and sharing space with the kids. The house is absolutely perfect for a couple or small family. 2. The hot tub cover weighed a ton! I tried placing it back on the tub myself and it fell and cracked. I nearly had a heart attack with worry (lost deposit, causing damage for something not my fault). The owner assured me the next morning that lid was old, and degrading so soaking up water and they should have told me ahead of time. They refunded me security deposit without delay. Don't hesitate to stay here - just awesome!! You'll love it!!

Beautiful place - quiet and comfortable!

This location is off the beaten path but really worth the drive. We enjoyed the property and its proximity to all the wonderful outdoor activities in the area! Every amenity you need is on site and the owners all always there to handle any issues that arise...which never happened! This is a perfect getaway location where, after a long day of hiking or other adventures, you can retreat too and enjoy the birds, deer, and privacy from the awesome deck! Can't wait to return! Thank you for the great time we both had!
